From Friday 7th to Sunday 9th August 2026, Sip will take on his next major endurance challenge, raising vital funds through a demanding 48 hour event. The Enduro48 will see him run and mountain bike the Preston Guild Wheel, a circular route covering 34.2km, continuously for two full days with no rest or sleep. Lap after lap, he will push to complete the route as many times as humanly possible.
Testing both physical endurance and mental resilience from start to finish, with no planned sleep or rest, Sip will push through repeated laps of the Preston Guild Wheel to raise funds and awareness for two charities with a deeply personal connection. The physical strain, fatigue and isolation of the challenge are deliberate, reflecting in a small way the hidden battles faced by many veterans who continue to live with the impact of military service long after leaving uniform behind.
The second charity being supported is Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue Team, a voluntary emergency service that has been saving lives in wild and remote places since 1962. Covering Lancashire and the surrounding areas, the team responds to callouts in difficult terrain, assists with searches for vulnerable missing people, and works closely with the police, ambulance and fire services. Every rescue relies on trained volunteers, specialist equipment and continued public support.
Combat Stress is the UK’s leading veterans’ mental health charity, providing specialist support for former service personnel dealing with PTSD, anxiety, depression and complex psychological trauma. After the loss of his wife Emma to suicide, and following 34 years of service in the military, Sip reached a point where he needed urgent help himself. Through Combat Stress, he was diagnosed with Complex PTSD and began the VICTOR programme in 2025, a turning point which has given him the tools to keep moving forward and the ability to soldier on once more.
For more than 20 years, Sip had hoped to join Mountain Rescue and give something back to the outdoor community, but military commitments meant the opportunity never came at the right time. After settling in Preston, he applied to join Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue Team and completed almost 18 months of demanding training, assessments and live search and rescue operations. On 25th March 2026, he was selected as a Full Team Member alongside five trainee colleagues, with the Enduro48 now helping support the team he is proud to serve.
Live tracking will be available throughout the Enduro48, allowing supporters to follow Sip’s progress across the full 48 hours. Anyone wishing to join him along the Preston Guild Wheel is welcome to do so, whether for a short stretch, a full lap, or simply to offer encouragement from the route. Haribos, friendly faces and words of support will all be gratefully received.
You can also support the challenge by making a donation, becoming a corporate sponsor, or sharing the event across social media to help raise awareness and vital funds for these two lifesaving charities. The Enduro48 begins at 12pm on Friday 7th August 2026 and, all being well, will finish at 12pm on Sunday 9th August 2026. Please get involved and help make the challenge count.
